My wife bought this for a Labor Day camping trip. After reading reviews about the paint/oil dripping off during the first use I placed the grate on the fire upside down to burn off anything before actually cooking on this grill. This warped the grill (no SUPRISE) but after it cooled it went right back to normal.Used the grill for the next 3 days with excellent results! No complaints at all! Held up and was sturdy, no “melting” as in some other reviews. I would definitely buy this again. As a heads up: the grill isn’t very tall, if your cooking over a fire ring it’s worth finding some rocks or we used cinder blocks to raise the height. I suppose you could build a small fire and this wouldn’t be an issue, but we have the extra large grill and it needed a larger fire, also had we not brought the blocks it would have actually sat on fire ring. Again easy enough fix, but something to consider… – this is the only reason grill got 4 instead of 5 stars! This pics show the grill with every pot in our kitchen, and the other is the grill in use!

This is a great grill, compact and durable. For those people complaining about the paint smell, you have to burn the grill before using it. Just put the grill upside down over the fire for some minutes and you will burn the paint. Same every time you use it so you kill bacterias and remove rests of grease or food you have cooked before.

Great camping grill if used properly.First, I would not cook directly on it right away. As other reviewers have mentioned it is painted black and it will peel off. I purchased two 16×9 Griddles (See below) which perfectly covered half the grill. The griddles are reversible. I was able to boil water and make coffee on one half of the grill, while at the same time cooking anything from bacon & eggs to burger & dogs on the other side. I have never had a better camping/cooking experience. (Personally don’t like gas when camping, fire only…)If you are looking for a large, heavy duty grill this is it, just use it properly. I will update this post after a few more uses and see if I am comfortable cooking directly on it over time. Plus I want to upload a picture so you can all see how sweet this set up is with the griddles!!Used it again this weekend. Couldn’t be happier.
