GAS ONE GS-3900PThis is my first stove that uses butane. The stove ignited first time and every time using the piezo ignition during testing with butane and propane using both 1lb bottle and 20lb tank, the stove certainly puts out the heat (for cooking), very simple to operate and relatively lightweight. I have tested the stove with a Lodge 12″ Cast Iron Skillet L10SK3ASH41B without causing overheat issues with the butane canisters. The 12″ lodge skillet tapers enough at the bottom allowing the skillet to fits in between the risers on the burner grate to help keep the skillet from easily sliding off (not by design it just worked out that way)The only issue and not really an issue just annoying is with the case, it was cracked when pulling from the manufacture packaging, the packaging wasn’t damaged leaving me to think it came from the factory that way as shown in the picture, I’m not deducting any stars given the stove works better than I expected and found no issues with the stove and that’s what matters, just be aware, the case is cheap and won’t take any kind of abuse.

My wife greatly prefers cooking on an electric range, so that’s what we have in the kitchen. I, on the other hand, was raised on gas and find electric insufficiently responsive. So when I really need gas for the instant control it allows, I pull out this item.I am using one-pound propane bottles to fuel it. The unit provides plenty of heat and is solidly constructed. It lights instantly, and allows a very wide and sensitively variable range of flame size. The pot support lifts away for easy cleaning, and will support plenty of weight. I have never tried to use a butane cartridge in the unit.Yes, I use this burner indoors on a counter top and can’t think why not. The manufacturer/distributor’s advice not to use it indoors is, I think, simply a device to try to limit liability if some user does something foolish. Heck, if it wasn’t silly to do so, I’m sure they would advise never fueling it up or turning it on at all. Then, no matter what happens, they could say they advised against that use.Two things to be aware of, and which I wish were different:1. The rotary control works backward from what I am accustomed to. Most controls raise the heat or flame level with a clockwise turn; this reduces it, so you start by a counterclockwise turn to ignite the gas, and shut it down clockwise. Not a real big deal, but not intuitive, either.2. The control does not have a positive click stop in the shut down position. I have some concern that a relatively slight accidental contact might open the valve slightly from its closed position, allowing fuel to leak so slowly it wouldn’t be noticed. I am thinking of trying to make some modification to the unit to make that off position more secure. Until I can do that, I feel forced to disconnect the fuel bottle every time I am finished using the burner, which is something of a nuisance. On the whole, however, I am very pleased with the burner.

Good flame adjustment and gets the job done on high.Pros:Works equally on both butane and propane.Good customer service. Cooking grate was damaged on arrival and Gas One responded immediately with the replacement.Cons:Came with a stiff hose that will not straighten from bends where it was stored inside and caused it to spring back against the stove while cooking which melted the hose. No replacement found on Amazon or elsewhere.Yes I would buy again.
